The Gaming Historian – Donkey Kong 3

After two successful arcade games in the Donkey Kong series, Nintendo decided to change up the formula by releasing Donkey Kong 3, a game much different than it’s predecessors. The Gaming Historian takes a look at this mostly forgotten game.

Thank you for doing this video, I wish that this game was more well known and loved, because while it’s different from the Donkey Kong and Jr., it’s a lot of fun and a very addictive arcade game.

I liked DK3. It was different and fun. I only played the NES version.

    Another fine video, Norm!

Didn’t Tanaka also compose Animal Crossing? And K.K. was based off Tanaka. I think.

      you’re thinking of Kazumi Totaka

I remember in the later levels my thumbs would get really tired. Then I ‘d use the NES MAX then it was fun again.

It’s like how a lot of people hate Zelda 2. People fear change.

I think it’s because change isn’t always for the best. Like some say, “Don’t fix wait ain’t broke.” :3

I agree, Donkey Kong 3 is quite the enjoyable game. The arcade game especially gets chaotic very quickly and can provide that good old-fashioned arcade rush for those looking for it.

I just want to put you in a headlock and make you cry like a little girl.

That being said, I enjoy your videos they are informative.

Great review man!  Give some love to Stanley. I want to see a 3DS Stanley game.

You know what’s funny? I never even played these Donkey Kong games. v.v I only played the one on the SNES (Donkey Kong Country) and Gameboy. (I forgot the name on that one >.>)

I think Nintendo should bring back Stanley. They did with Pit for Kid Icarus. He wasn’t even well known. xD I love these flashbacks. Makes me wish I was born earlier. Great video none the less.

Did he not have a PVR, or capture device in the beginning? Like, for the Wii?

  • DraculaAlucard1

I find it weird that Donkeykong was the 1st named character, but mario is Nintendo’s money whore.

  • xchintubular

Nice touch by using Phoenix’s “Too Young” song to accompany Stanley’s dancing :-)

  • Doalwa

    It’s on…on like…Donkey Kong!!!
