Partly as a showcase of the Virtual Boy’s abilities, partly testament to the homebrew community, homebrew developers have successfully ported Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting to the Virtual Boy. Based on the PC Engine HuCard version of the game, which is an engineering feat in itself, the game accurately captures graphics, sound and even gameplay from the original. Of course, compromises were made in terms of it being all red, and possibly being 3D free and the Virtual Boy’s differently abled controls, but it all seems very impressive.
For the moment, the dev made a limited demo freely available (only Ryu, Chun Li and Dhalsim), that can only be played using a Flash Boy flash cart with a Virtual Boy, but he may make a limited production cart run of the game in the near future. This is sure to be a pricey collector’s item.
