A new Sega console in the next generation? When was this video made… I don’t remember any recent time when they said they were going to release a new console.

Someone asked this on Youtube. He simply chose the wrong words. He meant to say that he wished the Dreamcast didn’t fail, so that we would have a new Sega console.

Yeah I guess my wording wasn’t too clear. Some got it, some didn’t. Just stating that if the Dreamcast wouldn’t of died like that we would of been seeing a new Sega Console for this coming generation (and of course in this current one with the 360, PS3 and Wii).

Dreamcast failed not because of any of that. It failed be cause it had no serious main titles. PS2 had FF, MGS from the almost get go – that’s 70% of overall fanbase.

No serious main titles? Whaaa? Soul Calibur, Crazy Taxi, Jet Grind Radio, Sonic Adventure 1 & 2, Shenmue, Resident Evil: Code Veronica, Marvel Vs Capcom, House of the Dead, Quake III Arena, Phantasy Star Online, Blue Stinger etc. Besides the fact that it had some of the BEST ports of third party games such as Episode 1 Racer and the THPS series.
I think you may be putting to much faith in Final Fantasy and MGS.

kevin dont forget Power Stone and Project Justice two of the best 3d fighting games capcom made for the system
and yeah i mean after the fan reaction to the game i think FF has lost its luster per say…plus the dreamcast had Grandia 2…a much better rpg than some of the later FF games

i mean the fan reaction to the recent FF games like 11. 12. and 13

“From the almost get go?” Final Fantasy X and Metal Gear Solid 2 didn’t even hit the PS2 until a FULL YEAR since its North American release. The PS2 garnered a lot of sales because of the fact that it was the cheapest DVD player, could play PSOne games and Sony made a lot of promises (mostly false) on just how powerful the system was, causing people to buy into it because Sony was a trustworthy company. Sega, at that point, no longer was.

Bit of a correction: There was no system that combined the Genesis, CD and 32X in one. Sega did have plans to release a system that combined the Genesis and 32X on its own, but never actually released it. The one they did combine and sell little of was the CDX, which was just a Genesis and Sega CD mixed into a CD player-style platform.
