HVGN 2010 3 Part Halloween Special Part 3:Sweet Home

It’s funny sweet home has scared me more then any other horror game I have played period.

I don’t know if it’s just the fact that enemies pop up at random and are genuinely creepy or if it’s just the nes taking me off guard.

I bet the temptation to make a bad “Ma Mamiya” joke was high for this…..

Another brilliant vid. But what’s with the blatant “Pants” product placement? Jeez Derek, what a sell-out…

hah. The statue at 13:40 looks like the demon statues from Ninja Gaiden on the nes.

    My God.

Just played through this game, and seriously, this is not one to be missed for RPG or survival horror fans. There are parts where you are 1) legitimately creeped out [and it's not down to cheap "jump scares" like a lot of more modern survival horror games] and 2) legitimately stressed out and afraid for your characters (even though you can save at any time).

For those who love piecing stories together like in System Shock II or Bioshock, you will simply adore the way the story unfolds. There are some annoyances with random battles (particularly when you have to pass through “earlier” hallways and rooms with weak enemies from the beginning of the game), but even up until the final sequence, the challenges and puzzles of the rooms get progressively harder [not to spoil things, but those who played know what it takes to get to the coffin and know what can happen if you take a wrong turn].

Really, do yourself a favor and try this out, whether via a repo cart or via emulation. It is definitely a classic that the West was robbed of due to censorship and hesitancy toward localizing RPGs back in the NES era.
