Great episode Norm! I don't think I'll ever find this game, at least not anytime soon but I'll deffinately keep a lookout for it in the 1/100000 I'll find it in the wild.

Never heard of it until recently. I could've come across this game numerous times in the past and have had no idea. When I heard the name on Game Chasers, I immediately thought it was a religious game. Cool to see what it truly is.
My only issue with this episode is that this felt more like a review rather than a history lesson, which bugs me. There's enough review shows online, I love your show cause it truly focuses on the history of the subject at hand. I know you review here and there, but meh…this just felt like a review to me.
Either way, I enjoyed the vid & always look forward to more. =-)

Wow, even in the old days Capcom was driving away its talent x3
Unfortunately, unless this shows up on Virtual Console, I likely won't be able to play this. I don't have the money to buy a game that insanely priced, and even if I did I don't have a NES.

Well if you had enough money to buy this game, you'd have enough to buy a NES so…lol X-D

Except that if I had the money for the game and spent it on an NES, then I wouldn't have enough for the game anymore x3

You can find NES's for like $5 or $10 these days…I think you could gather that up right? lol
What game would you be willing to spend an outrageous amount on?

Or you can emulate the game. That's what I would do if I can't get an older game. Its ROM is online if you look and finding an emulator should be no problem either.

Do you ever post about anything else bro?
I remember enjoying emulation when I was younger, but as I grew older…it just doesn't cut it for me anymore. I don't know what changed. Meh, as of right now, I may use emulation to "demo" a game. However, if I enjoy it, I purchase it. I find it more enjoyable to play the game itself, rather than an emulation. That's just me though. =-)
However, I'd be tempted when a game with a price-tag like THIS one comes along. Sheesh!

Ha ha… Well, apart from me, who talks about the subject? Not many from what I've seen. Gotta stick out amongst the crowd!
I am nearly 18 and don't really care about the complaints of emulation. On a personal level, so long as I can play the game at all, it's fine by me. I remember as a kid playing games on PCs as opposed to consoles because as a kid, I never really had access to such things until…around 12 to 13, and even then, I still had to depend on the PC a lot of the time. Then when I found out about emulation about 3 or so years ago, I gave it a shot and I loved the community that revolves around it as well as the fact people cared enough to allow people (like me) who never had such an opportunity to play all those classics to play them on the PC (which in where I live at least, is more accessible as a "gaming system" than anything else), and not have to worry about overpriced and unavailable retro games because an archive of old games is right here on the Internet.
Emulation to me, is legit and I partially talk about it a lot to get under the skin of those purist pricks on RetrowareTV, and to genuinely get more people to know about it. And believe me, a lot of people have thanked me for doing that. Apart from me, there aren't to many outspoken about emulation and I am not about to stop now.
I am NOT a "physical retro collector", nor do I truly care about being one. I am more than satisfied with emulation. I love the freedom it gives me and I am used to playing stuff on a computer. Anyone who is going to be an a-hole about that and not respect my views can go f#%k themselves.
Oh, here is a rule by me, "So long as you are in control of a game and are having fun with it, the hardware you are playing it on doesn't matter." In other words, so long as you are playing the game, you are playing the FREAKING game! It's not a goddamn "demo"! Demos are limited cuts of a game essentially. Games on emulator are not. They are the same game running on different hardware or software.
But yeah, that's my bit on that. Sorry it's like a mini-essay mixed with a rant. XD But that's my opinion. I won't rip on you for yours so long as you respect mine.

Wow, you almost managed to go a full two weeks without being a douche about emulation, if you want to debate it, I started a topic after you ran off crying the first time. It was discussed in an intelligent manner and most people didn't have a problem with it. It's when people like you try to call us "purist pricks" for preferring the physical cartridge that gets under our skin. I use emulation, I also collect physical games, I have already outlined my reasons for both in the topic that the subject was MEANT for. I suggest you do the same instead of being a troll about it and spamming every possible topic and video with comments purely designed to start a fight that you will just bitch about later.

MasterNeoCasko, you're flat out wrong. As someone who doesn't have the access to retro games these people do, and who depends on emulation for a big deal of my retrogaming, I'd rather have the real thing. There's a reason I've said I get jealous seeing retrogamers share their gaming collections, even as it takes a few clicks for me to play the same games at home on my computer. I do have strong opinions regarding copyright law and piracy, but you're completely off course criticizing collectors. Not everyone would want to go around town dressed up as Darth Vader or buying Star Wars collector's plates, but they're all expressions of the same famdom.
This debate has been done to death, but just so some representation is here, I'll be the first one to say I emulate but would rather have the real thing.
And to be clear, I have some original games too, mostly Game Boy.

Well I guess I ticked off someone. I think you're wrong. Still, I do know that there a lot of collectors here. Also, as I said before, this is my opinion. I thought we would be mature enough to handle that. But I guess I was wrong. I don't want to be here all day arguing about video games and how we play them. XD
So yeah, I still stand by my views.

U MAD?
You are just proving my point that people can't handle hearing the word without having a hissy fit. Well, I talk about a lot of things other than emulation. Video game music, my childhood memories regarding games and systems, among other things. Where were your comments on that if you have been tracking me enough to find out that I made some comments about it? I don't remember. I think you are being a douche yourself. We think alike.
Let's not start a flame war over this, shall we? I don't feel in the mood for pricks to jump at me over VIDEO GAMES!

First warning: Get the back to the actual topic of Little Samson and Norm's video or I'll lock this thread
Second Warning: Neocasko you have now admitted that you are trying to actually start a fight which is one reason why you were banned the first time. One more time and you will be gone for good and no amount of whining to John will get you back.

Haha sorry Kev, dude just irritates me…
On the topic of Norm's video, I really liked it, and find many similarities between the company who made this, and Platinum games. Both were founded from disgruntled Capcom employees and both made/make great and under-appreciated gems. You can compare them to Treasure as well (although Treasure had a somewhat greater measure of success in the 16 – bit years I believe), I love it when the actually creative members of a team get fed up and leave these sequel driven companies in the dust.

Alright. Let's get back on topic. I really enjoyed this game. I remember when I used am emulator to play it.
But I do have one question. I don't know if you are the person to ask (since you weren't the person who reviewed it), but is the company still around? I can't find any real things regarding it.
And Kevin……we are not friends. I am not your biggest fan. I don't like your way of handling things back then, and I still don't. Do you not realize it's in an indirect fashion that I irritate them. Like a "Rosa Parks in the bus" kind of way. I never actively went after people. When will you get that? But my conciense is clear. Always has been on this, always will be.
That's all.

Woah, calm down there guy. Why is "demo" offensive to you? I said I use them AS A demo. Sampling the game essentially. No big deal. Fyi…if I said emulator fans can go fuck themselves, or referred to them as emulator purist pricks, you'd be quite angry. So even if you are not aiming your insults at someone specific, you are indirectly offending many people. If you are truly trying to avoid flaming, then just watch your words more mate. =-)
On the note of Samson, my girlfriend got excited when I told her Gaming Historian reviewed this game because she remembered hearing about it while watching Game Chasers with me. Its always cool to see your lady get excited over anything game related. haha =-)

Well, I guess I was a little mad. -_-'
But yeah, it's just that I am not in a position to spend over over $40 on a video game, let alone $200. It gets me a little mad but I tried to make it clear that I have no ill will towards you. It's all over personal opinion after all. I was always fine on a personal level with the big E anyway so that's all that matters. But whatever! XD
As for Little Samson, I do like the game too. It's great and is certainly the kind of game I would put on the underrated classics list of mine (alongside The Guardian Legend, Metal Storm, Moon Crystal, Power Blade, Vice: Project Doom, and others). Having multiple characters to play as helps too!
And it's nice to know your girlfriend likes it. Its always hard for me to find girls who are interested in games at all, let alone retro games.

Thanks so much for the review, it is always nice to find new hidden gems in the library. This looks like an incredible game, I don't want to say how I am going to play it as I do not want to started another heated debate which already has ensued. The way I see it, if it is not available to download off of the virtual network, emulate it. Emulated or purchase of a cart will result in the developer receiving the same amount of money. Games are meant to be enjoyed, and like master said, not everyone has 200 to throw on a game.

I am writing a book on the physics of video games, message me with an idea and I will credit you for the submission! If you are wondering, my picture is of two contra characters drawn by my fiancee.

I may be taking a risk by saying this but…very well said.
This game and many others are too good to not be enjoyed by others, emulation or not.
Thanks for getting my point.
