Believe it or not, there were survival horror games before Resident Evil. Not many… but still. Clock Tower for the Super Nintendo was one of the pioneers of the genre, bringing creepy atmosphere, a chilling plot, and homicidal children all together in full 2-dimensional glory. Find out why everyone should give this overlooked gem a chance this Halloween.

I have played the first Clock Tower on the PS1…I mean the second Clock Tower…or maybe it’s…ah nevermind!
Anyway, it was fun and creepy. Can’t say I played the first Super Fami game.

This was FANTASIC! i’ve been dying for this game to get some love. and the story roo says about jumping at his own house cracking, that’s proof a good horror game has done its job. When you scare yourself!

As sad as it is, that scissor part at the start scared the crap out of me. I love Clock Tower, great game and I haven’t played anything that gave me the same feeling since.

I got an mine in english on a cart form http://www.gamereproductions.com/products.php?product=Clock-Tower. As this site has Star Fox 2 and many US SNES ports I do remand retro games have a look at it in fact they have Map 1 of BS Zelda for sell.

Yeah, I found a lot of claims of that, but no solid evidence, so I decided to leave it out of the episode just to be sure. However, I will admit that the game shows a stong resemblance between Jennifer Simpson and Jennifer Connelly (and for that, I think it )

Great review. Clock Tower is probably one of the coolest horror games out there, and one of the scariest I’d say, it deserves more attention than it gets.

Yay Clock Tower!! I freakin’ love Clock Tower 1 and 2 — though I’m less fond of Ghost Head, and Clock Tower 3 is an abomination. (: Haunting Ground is pretty cool, though!

I hate to be one of “those guys,” but if you own a PSP (do you?), I highly recommend picking up Corpse Party when we release it next month. I think any fan of Clock Tower would enjoy it immensely.

The first time watching I though something would appear beside you when the light went out. Didn’t expect the scissors thing, it did surprise me. Haha XD
Well, just played this game for the first time for Halloween, and got all endings, it’s actually pretty easy to beat after the first time. ^^ Thanks for the video, Roo.

i was concerned when i first starting listening to this review, that you weren’t gonna mention alone in the dark as a horror genre inspirational game. but you did, well done mate, my childhood appreciates you recognizing that game
